About the Author

A.J. Kelleher

A.J. Kelleher writes cozy mysteries steeped in Irish coastal towns, family history, and the kind of small-town secrets that surface the moment someone starts asking questions.

Roots & Remnants grew out of a longtime fascination with genealogy — the way a single parish record or gravestone can unravel a family story nobody thought to tell. Molly Quinn, the series’ genealogist-detective, was born from that same curiosity: equal parts stubborn, warm, and incapable of leaving a loose thread alone.

A.J. currently lives in Spain and writes most mornings with a strong pot of tea and a growing collection of Irish parish maps pinned to the wall.

Why Roots & Remnants

Every town holds onto its dead a little differently — in headstones, in ledgers, in the stories families choose to pass down and the ones they quietly let go. This series follows Molly Quinn from county to county as she helps strangers trace their family lines, only to keep finding that the past isn’t nearly as buried as everyone hoped. Cozy, character-driven, and rooted in real Irish history — with a slow-burn thread of Molly’s own family story running underneath it all.
